Feminism?

Amidst renewed allegations against supreme court justice Brett Kavanaugh I find myself thinking of the seemingly ever present Me Too movement.  Never let it be said that I think woman are less or that they don't deserve equal respect.  Human beings should be treated with kindness and respect period!!  That being said I am not so sure that this new feminist movement will turn out well for anyone, men or women.  Slogans on t-shirts representing compressed ideologies like "I believe all women" do more damage than good.  One listen to the song "Elderly woman behind the counter in a small town" by Pearl Jam brings to mind the malleability of memory.  Not only does this slogan, if applied, put any man at a woman's mercy it also goes against our entire justice system.  I will not say that our courts are perfect but that is a conversation for another time, what I will say is that innocent until proven guilty is a cornerstone of justice.   I require a system that strives for justice for all not just victims of sexual assault and while the idea of listening to victims in order to help heal and seek justice is valid, persecution without proof is not.  I know that like any complex thing in our society there is good and bad in it, and I hope that we don't push the pendulum to far on this issue.  I have two daughters myself and want nothing more than to make a world where they are safe and happy but it can't come on the heels of mans misery.
I am all for equality, at least equality of opportunity not outcome, whether they be sexual or financial.  Calls for equal pay and equal representation however are unfounded.  The bureau of labor states that for full time jobs women make 77 cents on the dollar when compared to men.  This at first glance sounds appalling, but consider this.  That statistic doesn't account for the type of work that any person does.  It basically represents the biological burden of having children and the social role of care giving and last I checked there isn't any mandate or law that makes women have children.  A recent study by glassdoor economics states that when age, occupation, flexibility and other factors are accounted for there exists only a 5 cent pay gap.  There are no legal blockades women have to overcome to make more  money.  In fact it is illegal to discriminate against women in the workforce.  They just have to start making different choices and deferring some roles at home to men.  That means that men or "manliness" will have to change.  This may or may not be for the better but with marriage rates down and more and more children raised by single mothers I fear the worst.  With the pay gap narrowing to almost non-existence and knowing that a good man at home increases a child's overall wellness maybe woman should stop pushing so hard.  Who knows maybe I am wrong about all of this.
